i need answers. scared
Oct 15 2007, 12:41 PM EDT About five days ago I was walking home from the bar, and yes I did have a couple of drinks. On my way home a felt a little pain and looked down and realized I was covered with blood. Now I am on the Depo shot and have not gotten my period in over 3 years, and i hardly ever spot. This night it was massive bleeding. It was so bad that it got all over my feet, legs, stomach, hands... all over my clothes and everything else I was around. I didn't have much pain, but I thought about it and before this happened i had some other symptoms. I was not peeing frequently (even if i drank gallons of water), my stomach was very bloaded, decrease in appetite, and diarrhea. I was taken to the ER and the doctor there was very uncertain of what may have been going on. He basically told me it could be spotting from being on the shot, but this was not spotting i lost a massive amount of blood. (i have never seen this much blood in my life) And he also said it could possibly be a cyst that had errupted. I was told to see a speacialist and see what they had to say. I am nervous about the situation. Since the bleeding has basically stopped, but i still get pain in my lower stomach and pelvic region. I am having troubles with insurance, being a graduate student, and have yet to be able to go to a speacialist. I was just curious if anyone has had this happen to them, or had any answers. thanks 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Dec 8 2007, 10:17 PM EST wow hun - i honestly would not have left that ER until I got more of an answer. what tests did they do? any ultrasounds, CT's, MRI's? i just don't think that they could possibly rule out a ruptured cyst to cause that much blood, or spotting or breakthrough bleeding due to depo to cause THAT much bleeding. IDK... you should definetly push to have something done, ASAP. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Dec 27 2007, 8:59 PM EST hello, i have had that happen once before when i was very young. all the drs. could tell me was that it wsa menses which is a very bad menstrual period, which the dr. sais was because of stress. i strongly suggest to you to may be find a planned parenthood of even maybe a free clinic or a hospital that will help you to make payment arrangements so that you can get your situatuation resolved. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Jan 13 2008, 12:47 AM EST Hope you are still out there and will let us know what happened with you. The picture you painted sounded horrible. I was wondering if you ever got your diagnosis. And to anonymous - the definition of menses is "the length of time that menstral bleeding lasts". Sometimes you'll hear doctors refer to your whole period has your menses. It does not mean a very bad menstrual period. And although stress is never very good for anyone's health, it could not have caused what "scared" was describing. As I suggest to my daughter and every other young woman I know, please take the time to go to this website: http://www.ourbodiesourselves.org. The more you learn about your body, the better patient advocate you become for yourself. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 10 2008, 6:27 AM EDT You need to get to an ob/gyn for a full checkup and testing. There are so many things that can go wrong in the pelvic area. Endometriosis, adenomyosis, STD's, etc. etc. You are dealing with a contained area with a lot of muscles, a lot of nerves and a lot of organs. You have to have an ob/gyn check you out. Do you have insurance? If you do, call the nearest hospital and ask for a physician referral, call their office and tell them the problems you have been having. If not, check with your nearest county to see what they can offer like medicaid. There are answers out there for you. You just need to get to the right doctor. Do you find this valuable? |
