infections from lake?
Jun 17 2008, 8:55 AM EDT I spent my past weekend at the lake with friends while on my period. I think that the lake water went up the tampon string and into the actual tampon which sat there for 4 hours. Is that even possible? My symptoms are brown chunky discharge, severe itchiness, and bleeding (off my period though) someone please help! : ( Do you find this valuable? |

RE: infections from lake?
Jun 23 2008, 6:38 PM EDT Oh my gosh, your symptoms would have had me running to the nearest ob/gyn. Yes, I believe it is entirely possible for bacteria to have latched onto the tampon string and not only got into the tampon, but got into your vagina. Checking some online journals, I have read of some vaginal infections from bacteria and amoeba just by swimming in lakes. Add a tampon into the mix and frankly speaking, the bacteria have just been given a ladder into your vagina. If you have not already done, please call your ob/gyn and tell them of your symptoms and what lake you were swimming in. Please, please, please do not try to self-diagnosis this. Please have a medical professional do an exam on you. Your reproductive health is too important to try to guess what is wrong. Please let us know how you are doing. Alaina 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
